Hello!

We are Spilled Ink Studios, developing tabletop roleplaying games. Based out of the UK, we have a passion for telling stories, and creating engaging mechanics for our players to break to their very limit.

City of God is a supernatural horror investigation roleplaying game set during the Dark Ages, an age of despair, rife with superstition and human misery.

Players, referred to as missionaries, play as members of the Christian church who have been tasked with investigating supernatural disturbances related to demons and satanic creatures. Their goal is to restore God’s order over the earth, removing the presence of demonic evil, dark magic, or sorcery. They must save the souls of the living, and protect what remains of God’s mission on earth. No matter the cost to themselves.

The game grounds its supernatural horror in real history, taking place in a time of anarchy and immense human devastation. The world is filled with greed and human sin. Its leaders are corrupt and serve only themselves. There is never-ending conflict between foreign barbarians vying for power between themselves, corrupt bureaucrats serving the ruins of the old Roman order, and leaders of the Christian faith burning each other at the cross as they attempt to claim themselves leaders of the masses.

For the missionaries, the lines of mortal evil conducted by their fellow humans will blur with that of the demonic and supernatural, and they will be forced to question with which evils they must treat with in order to defeat another.
